On Strategy Games and Programming

Similarities between playing a relatively complex strategy game and programming

I got this thought after watching the video about moves per decision on strategy games.

Games that force you to have many moves per decision will make you focus more on the moves.

For example in chess, the move is relatively easy compared the the decision, thus it operates at a high level.

When programming in python, we are less bogged down by the rules of programming thus we can focus more on implementing high level design, like strategies in easy games.

I guess same thing when working with C and other strongly typed compiled languages

Same thing also applies when using neovim vs vscode. In neovim you get bogged down by the configs and moves and lesser on the strategy.

But the upside is when you are truely a master of the moves, then you operate the strategy at a faster, higher level compared to other who are used to playng with easy moves.
