How deep should we go in the abstraction process?
I got this thought when reading about magnets, how do they work?
We could keep asking this question indefinitely, or we could stop at a certain level of abstraction.
We stop when the understanding suffices our intended application. For example, magnets come from the alignment of magnetic domain in the atomic level.
If we want to improve our intended application, we go deeper into the level of abstraction to find something we can tinker that ultimately affects the abstraction above. If we want stronger magnets, perhaps we find a way to increase the density of the domain alignment.
